JOHN BIO
John is a Greenville native. He graduated from Duke University in 1978, and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1983, where he served on the editorial board of the law review. After 13 years of trying cases at a local firm, he started his own practice. Throughout his career, John handled a wide variety of cases involving countless legal issues. His practice included construction litigation, commercial and business litigation, insurance disputes and real estate litigation. John has also represented numerous governmental entities, from the state level to local municipalities. In the summer of 2022, John was lead counsel in an eight-day Federal Court jury trial over a failed corporate acquisition. The trial resulted in directed verdicts being granted in favor of his client for $12,700,000.
In approximately 2000, John began mediating and arbitrating cases at the request of other members of the bar and has continued to do so since that time.
John has been an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell since 2001, and has also been selected to South Carolina Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, and Greenville’s Legal Elite. In 2020, he was recognized as the top vote getter in Greenville’s Legal Elite in the field of Business Litigation.
In his spare time, John is an avid reader, an enthusiastic if not particularly talented competitive swimmer, and a truly terrible poker player. His greatest accomplishment was convincing Amy to marry him in 2017.
AMY BIO
Amy is a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia and a 1986 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law where she was a member of the South Carolina Law Review and the Order of Wig and Robe.
Amy has practiced law for over 35 years in the Upstate of South Carolina and has tried hundreds of cases to a verdict. She has practiced in both state and federal court. Amy’s primary practice was in personal injury litigation. She handled a variety of cases including Tort Claims Act cases, civil rights cases, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability claims, defamation claims and products claims. Amy has obtained an AV Preeminent Rating from her peers and the judiciary by Martindale-Hubbell. She has been recognized for numerous years in both Legal Elite of the Upstate and Best Lawyers in a variety of practice areas. Most recently she was recognized by Legal Elite in the practice area of mediation.
Amy decided obtain her mediator certification as a way to use her litigation experience to help others resolve their disputes. Her experience as a litigator has reinforced her belief that agreed upon outcomes are always the best result in litigation.
Amy has two sons, one a graduate of Clemson University and the other a graduate of The Citadel. She is a member at Christ Church and a member of the Haynsworth Perry Inns of Court. Amy loves college football and thinks the MLB season is way too long.
